The Meat Obsession

I do not judge anyone for eating meat, just as I do not want to be judged for being vegan. That being said: Just as the world and reality that we live in is constantly changing, this is an eternally evolving series that satirically explores the human obsession with consuming meat and dairy products while also exploring the relationship between humans and animals. This series also humorously questions the contradicting human reasoning to protect some animals while simultaneously causing great suffering to other animals by exploiting them for food, clothing, testing, and entertainment. The use of role reversals is often employed in these photos to depict the absurdity of the meat obsession, the exploitation of animals, and to question why humans treat animals as mere objects and trophies instead of treating them as living beings who also experience pain and joy. This series is asking people to acknowledge that the animals we raise and kill for food are just as sensitive and intelligent as the dogs and cats we adore at home. But even if we leave aside animal cruelty, we are still left with the devastating environmental effects factory farming causes on a global scale at increasing speeds. Roughly 30% of Earth's land surface is now used to grow crops to feed livestock, and more forests are being destroyed at alarming rates to make even more room for factory farms and livestock crop fields. All the while, all of those crops grown for livestock could be fed directly to humans. And we are also still left with the human health problems directly related to diets high in meat and dairy products. Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans with one-in-four Americans dying of heart disease every year, and the average age is 64. Heart disease is predominantly a nutritional disease caused by diets high in cholesterol and saturated fat, which all animal meats contain. Meat also has zero fiber, which is essential for a healthy digestive system and cardiovascular system. So, it would be safe to say that meat and dairy kill more people than any other reason. If meat and dairy are essential for humans, then consider the fact that cultures where they have the most people living over 100 years are cultures that rely primarily or entirely on plant-based diets. These places in the world are known as The Blue Zones. Sadly, some of these Blue Zones are shrinking and disappearing due to the adoption of American style diets. Also, consider the fact that cultures with plant-based diets who adopted the high protein, high meat, high dairy, standard American diet found drastic increases in cases of cardiovascular disease, heart disease, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, strokes, osteoporosis, hypoglycemia, gout, ulcers, food poisoning, and a long list of other health problems directly linked to and/or caused by consuming animal products. Adopting a plant-based diet has shown time and again to be beneficial for human health, animal health, and environmental health. I can only speak for myself, but since becoming vegan food has never tasted better, I have never felt healthier, and I have never had more energy. So, the question is: where is the moral justification and ethical reasoning for continuing down a destructive path of consuming animal meats and animal milks on a massive scale when they are not necessary for survival?
Why consume meat when meat is slowly consuming us?
