PHOTOGRAPHY | MOTELS & MEMORIES

This is a personal project and a continuous series that began while I was in art school. It started as an exploration of motels throughout North Carolina, and then it turned into exploring motels throughout the world. I'm interested in the idea of how many people that come and go and have come and gone in motels. It's as if there are millions of parallel stories taking place on different timelines. And all those stories leave some small trace of having taken place. I'm always looking for different lines and shapes and colors and patterns and random items that serve as the outer shell of the motel, hinting at the stories that lie beneath. Some of these motels remain in business while others have been left to be reclaimed by nature.
